About Me

Hi Lovelies!

I’m The Avid Baker and I have a long-standing relationship with baking/pastry and dabbling in culinary related adventures which include: writing for a food column in university, working as a part- time apprentice at a bakery and as a sous-pastry chef (Oliver and Bonacini Cafe), as a Culinary Assistant at Dish Cooking School, as an editorial assistant to Chef Monica Glass (Clio Restaurant in Boston) and her blog ‘Pastry Princess’, and taking a few baking and pastry courses at culinary school using a James Beard Scholarship I received from the foundation.  I also have my own mini-business where I bake all sorts of delightful ‘made-to-order’ desserts.

As well, I am a freelance writer.  I write about Design, Arts & Culture, Technology, Fashion, Beauty, Spas, Events in the city, and of course, food/baking & dining out.

I bake; therefore, I am 🙂

I hope to continue dishing out tasty tales with my blog.

Happy Baking and Exploring!

p.s. the post “Baking Brouhaha with a Midnight Pie” gives a more detailed run-down of how this blog came to be birthed (not as painful as that just sounded, I promise) and why I like to bake – a lot.

  1. I’m neither a professional foodblogger nor someone who wants to confirm any business issue.

I’m just a Swedish guy browsing the web and I’ll have to commend you for a job well done. Tons of Swedes are obsessed about baking and I’ve often been disappointed with the quality of baking blogs abroad, either because of poor photography, poor wording/lack of articulate authors or just inactivity.

Well, I’m now adding my first non-Swedish baking blog(although there’s more to this blog than just that!) so I hope you’re happy because I certainly am reading your stuff!

    Cheers from Sweden.

    1. Thanks for your kind words David. I’ll certainly need to give this blog more of my time now considering I have someone reading it from Sweden! 🙂
I’ve been busy freelancing for a few other online publications and will add these posts to my blog shortly.
Thank you for reading and partaking in my culinary/baking adventures!

      Cheers,
      Tiffany

  2. Hi,

My name is Greg and I’m contacting you from Urbanspoon. We received a request from Urbanspoon user “S.C.” claiming that they are the author of this blog, and I’m writing to verify if this is the case and that you want to allow S.C. to manage your blog on Urbanspoon.

You can visit the Urbanspoon page for The Avid Baker here:

Please reply and let me know whether or not we should approve this claim.

    Thanks!
    Greg

  3. Hi there!

My name is Steve Walters and I recently started blogging at http://www.eatingbangkok.com, which is currently being updated with recipes, but in the next few months will be my vehicle for covering the food and restaurant scene in Bangkok Thailand.

I am now in the process of meeting as many food bloggers as I can and I found your site https://theavidbaker.wordpress.com recently and was pretty impressed. I’ve added your site to my Foodie Blogs list here: http://www.eatingbangkok.com/foodie-blogs/ and would also like to add you to my blogroll.

If you could add my site to your blogroll and write back to let me know it has been added I will add you to mine as well and the exchange would be greatly appreciated!

As you might imagine I am very excited to get moved to Bangkok and get started on covering the food scene there as I feel it is an area that isn’t well covered by English speaking bloggers. I plan on adding loads of great reviews, pictures and even video and will be holding contests as well. It should be fun, entertaining and informative for everyone that visits.

Thank you so much in advance for adding me to your blogroll and I look forward to reading your posts (I’ve subscribed!) and maybe even featuring some of your own posts as I do plan on a weekly roundup of Thai themed recipes and posts from other food bloggers.

    Warm regards,
    Steve
